Why Study Latin America?
About the Major
CLAS assists the University of Utah in the development and offering of curriculum for the Latin American Studies major by supporting faculty expertise and extensive campus programming related to Latin America. The major is designed to provide students with critical language and cultural skills that serve as the foundation for careers in public service, business, humanitarian work, law, education, and health care, among others. The College of Humanities and the International & Area Studies program, in partnership with several collaborating departments across campus, retain primary responsibility for the management and administration of the curriculum in Latin American Studies and other specific disciplinary areas.
