A core mission of the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) is to promote understanding of Latin America by supporting teaching, learning, and research by our talented faculty and students. As part of this mission, supporting graduate student research travel to Latin America is a key priority. Through first-hand experiences, this kind of travel helps students develop a deeper understanding of the region, as well as the skills and connections necessary for solid career paths. The 2020 CLAS & Tinker Foundation Recipients inlcudes students from a variety of diverse departments such as: Humanities, Mines & Earth Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Education, and Science.
Despite the unprecedented challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic CLAS in partnership with the University, generous donors, and the Tinker Foundation has extended the deadline to use this year’s award funds to ensure students will continue to experience these invaluable field research and travel opportunities. We are impressed with these students’ innovative topics and the groundwork they have already carried out to ensure their research trips will be successful. We can’t wait to see where their research takes them! Click on the image to see a larger picture and read the details on their research!
