2021 Latin American Studies Student of the Year Award!
The CLAS Student of the Year award comes with a $100 prize and is given annually to an exceptional senior in the Latin American Studies program graduating in spring or summer of the academic year.
Congratulations to Melanie Montelongo-Bernardino for receiving the Center for Latin American Studies 2021 Student of the Year award!
Melanie is an excellent student, as evidenced by her grades and involvement in extracurricular activities. She is graduating as a triple major in Latin American Studies, International Studies, and Spanish. For her Latin American Studies Signature Experience, Melanie completed the Spanish Community Engaged Learning course and volunteered at the Maliheh Clinic. In addition to her dedication to her coursework, Melanie worked two jobs this past year, a work-study and Spanish contact tracing for COVID-19 through the Utah Department of Health. Melanie also worked as a Utah Reads Tutor through the Bennion Center.
